Ebon has been losing some weight. Tonight, Ebon looks so skinny and gaunt. He feels lighter than my fattest dwarf hamster. Mum has observed that Ebon has been eating less and his stool is very soft/wet. It's not a good sign. I have seen my previous syrian hamsters dying at the age of 3 and Ebon is around 3. I just hope he won't suffer and mum and I will continue to give him lots of love.

it's very sad to see your pet grow old.. but at least they must live to their ripe old age.. my robos died a sudden death and they are still very young (less than a year old), so we don't even know what happened. It is definitely not old age.
Will you be bringing him to the vet? when Precious was old and sickly, vet friend said to let him pass peacefully away at home in a comfortable place as long as he didn't look like he was in pain. Vet clinics can also be stressful.
No, I won't be bringing him to Dr Ling because I think this is a natural process when syrian hamsters grow old. At least Ebon is still active and his breathing is normal. Last night I let him out for a walk in the balcony and he looked so funny like a skinny rat. Mum and I still fed him lukewarm oatmeal which he would take a few mouthfuls.
okie, at least Ebon can still eat oatmeal. Yes, I'm sure Slushy is very sad when Precious is gone..
