Over the weekend, I made
Nutella peanut butter granola yesterday and mini avocado donuts with chocolate frosting. Both were easy to make. The granola requires 2 cups of rolled oats and 2 tablespoon of nutella, 2 tablespoons of peanut butter and 4 tablespoons of honey. I made the nutella granola separate from the peanut granola and baked them in the oven for 20 mins before mixing all together. I want healthy donuts so baked avocado donuts with choc avocado frosting fit the bill. Both taste yummy :)

First attempt in making dorayaki
I remember enjoying dorayaki (aka Doramon's favorite snack) when I was young. I liked those from the food section of Yaohan supermarket which is no longer around in Singapore. I have seen dorayaki sold at some bakeries but I find them too sweet. After finding 2 recipes for dorayaki and the red bean paste on 2 blogs, I spent a few hours making them. The paste ended up a bit too dry and is not sticky enough to hold the 2 pancakes together. Hee. The pancakes are nice enough to eat on their own. Sis who doesn't like red beans ate the pancakes with ice cream and feta cheese separately.

Ham cheese carrot broccoli quiche
After doing some research on quiche recipes, I decided to try one with a simple crust. Sis and dad found it quite nice and S likes it. I think something is missing and I suspect frying the ham with onion will make it taste and smell more aromatic. Next time :)
Hitam
I think this is the first photo I had taken of Hitam. I sterilised her a year ago and she was formerly a pet cat of a Malay family who let her roam. After the family brought home another cat, she went home less often other. Now she seems to hang around the void deck of the next block across the car park and we will feed her. At times, we do see her going home, maybe for a quick visit or meal. She likes to follow us but not keen to be stroked.
White Neck Number 2
He reminds me of White Neck, one of the community cats who have left us. He is more vocal though. I managed to lure him into the carrier some weeks back and engaged Lingcat to send him to the vet for sterilisation.

Cute community cat in a bicycle basket
It is a rainy morning. After feeding the community cats near my home and fetching mom from the polyclinic, we walked around the estate to buy lunch and bread. Along the way, we bumped into 3 community cats well cared by other cat caregivers. This third one has an interesting face. I couldn't resist running its chin and it responded by purring :)

Cinnamon and her new carpet
Cinn likes the carpet sample that S gave. She will scratch it or sleep on it or stare into space. With her toys around her, it reminds me of a human child's play area :)
Memories of Surabaya
Last work trip this year on 22-26 Sep. On the 1st night, I ordered a kid sized meal of meatball noodles. On the last 2 days, I finally bought 2 pieces of batik fabric and an electric tjanting tool (if I want to try making batik).

Bob's staycation @ S's place
I had to be away for an overseas assignment, so Bob went to stay at S's place for the past 6 days. The room was cat proof and S even slept with him on certain nights.

Bob and the metronome
I was looking for my old metronome that I used during days of my classical piano lessons eons ago, so that S could use it when practising his classical guitar. The metronome was sitting in the display cabinet, hidden by the many travel souvenirs from old friends. I tested the metronome and was also curious to see how Bob would react. He didn't disappoint me :)
Bob the "supervisor"
I was cleaning the floor, corners and areas behind my cabinet and drawers on Sat afternoon. Bob was curious and following me to check out the unexplored places. I had to be faster than him to clear the dust and dirt before he propped himself at one corner and stared :)

Shredded cheese carrot muffins
The packet of shredded cheese was expiring on 25 Aug, last Sunday, so the day before I followed a recipe for cheese muffins and improvised by adding shredded carrots. I like :)
Experiments with food
They are fun and therapeutic. It would be great if they taste yummy for my family and S to enjoy. Otherwise, I will slowly finish them up. Recently the experiments turned out quite alright. I was quite happy munching the crunchy and chewy sweet potato chips. The chickpea hummus was surprisingly nice and reminded me of mashed potatoes. The Bombay/French toast is a good way of finishing up the slices of bread that were turning dry.

Feasting on homecooked food
While catching up with good old friends, we were stuffing ourselves with baked herb potato and eggy potato salad (made by SP) last Sat afternoon. After a short swim, we prepared the ingredients to go with the laksa gravy that FR made at home earlier.

Doing what I love @ home
I haven't been able to take leave the past month due to work. Today I managed to take a day off work and spent time with mom, the community cats and home cats. Bob showed me how to really relax :) I can't sit still at home, so did some baking therapy by trying out a chocolate avocado cake recipe. It has a hint of avocado and it doesn't taste like your usual cake with eggs and butter but I think it can satisfy my craving for moist chocolate cake.
