Visit by Cousin N

This afternoon, Cousin N visited us to help us troubleshoot our PC which kept restarting. I thought it would be nice to cook soba soup lunch for him, sis and myself. The soba ended up a bit overcooked and there wasn't enough soup and N found his share include a small egg shell and a fish bone :P Luckily it was edible with all these boo-boos. Hee.

He met Bob who was shy and went hiding into my bedroom. Later, when Bob was back in the room, Cinnamon and Angel were wary but curious. Cinnamon didn't run and hide after a while. It was good catching up with N, who used to spend a lot of time with us in his primary school days.

Ice cream treat

Dad treated us to ice cream after our short walk. Greedy mom and I chose the big waffle cones for our ice cream :)

Playing with my Olympus camera at Punggol Promenade

It was quite hot when we reached Punggol Promenade before 11am this morning, but that didn't stop me and sis from snapping away with our cameras while mom and dad were armed with umbrellas :) The photos were taken with my Olympus E-PL1 with the normal 14-42mm lens as well as another Olympus OM macro (50mm, f3.5) lens and adapter.

Shopping and lunch with parents

Yesterday late morning, I drove to an estate in Ang Mo Kio with parents, as mom has been telling me that a stall at the food centre sells cheap and nice shoes and I thought I should visit it soon. I like a few designs and bought 2 pairs :) Lunch was roast chicken and iced cheng teng at the food centre.

Sis and I decided to check out this new restaurant at Pacific Plaza yesterday for our lunch. She had this burger with dry aged beef and garlic vinegar fried and mocha while I chose the "Nice" salad with tuna, capers, anchovy, veggies and Sencha osmanthus ice tea. The service is good as one of the servers was around to recommend and explain the items and also to take our order. I'm not a fan of creamy savoury food but the salad was quite nice. Sis' burger is good too as it relies on the beef and caramelised onion to give it flavour. I quite like the subtle fragrance of my tea and sis likes her mocha too.

Home cooked dinner on Saturday

Parents usually don't cook dinner on weekends. However, sometimes we get sick of eating outside or asking Dad to buy take-away home. Today was such a day and mom prepared the peanut soup and stir fried zucchini with prawns while I baked shepherd pie.

Hunger Games, lunch & dessert

I enjoyed the Hunger Games movie but I prefer the book, as the book made me feel more for the characters. The movie does flesh out certain scenes in the book and I think Jennifer Lawrence played the Katniss Everdeen character quite well. After the movie, we had lunch and tea @ TWG @ Ion. We browsed at the malls for a short while before satisfying our sweet tooth @ Paul @ Ngee Ann City. I'm happy to know that both sis and I had a nice time together :)

Birthday cake and balloons

Attending my niece's 1 year old birthday party is more of a gathering with my cousins and aunties and uncle. As we watched little kids blowing bubbles by the pool, my cousin, sis and I who are more than 30 years old commented that we are not youngsters anymore :)

We had an argument yesterday morning. There were tears and harsh words. Sometimes it's good to thrash things out and understand how the others feel about certain issues but someone will get hurt. I always believe in open communication in the family. I feel a little sad but can still take my lunch with Mom and dinner with parents. Hopefully, sis feels better after cycling and dinner with her friends

We had a lovely time eating the food prepared by Big Aunt and her family and catching up with the relatives.

Reunion dinner on Chinese New Year's Eve

After a lunch of chicken rice and snacking on goodies, we only had space for mom's curry chicken and brown rice. A while later, S dropped by to give us his tau kwa and leek dish. I couldn't resist trying a bit of it an hour later.

Early reunion dinner

We had our reunion dinner at a coffeeshop in Tampines. The food was quite yummy. Sis and I also had a quick catchup with our cousins. One of them offered us a handmade sweet (Muscat flavour) at the end of the dinner.

Spending time with mommy

Mom and I share a common love for the cats and food. After feeding cats on Fri morning, we walked to the nearby shophouses to buy some stuff and have hot dessert of Cheng Ting and Tau Suan. Back home, we had durian and mom cooked us Assam instant noodle with lady's finger.

For lunch yesterday, I bought chicken murtabak from the coffeeshop. It has been stressful for mom on weekdays, taking care of ABC while we are away at work. I'm really proud of mom as I know it's not easy for her to supervise the cats and cleaning the house, preparing dinner, etc.
