Sugaring

I have tried shaving and IPL for my leg hairs, but I don't want to cut myself and I'm sick of the spa staff trying to sell me packages. After reading about sugaring online and getting the Moom organic hair removal jar, I have decided to stick to it. It was a bit troublesome at first, as I have to warm up the jar and spread the "wax" on a small area of hair on my leg, followed by the cloth strip, and give the strip 2 quick rubs, before quickly lifting the strip in the opposite direction of the hair growth.

It sounds a bit tedious, but after some practice, I just need about 15 minutes (excluding warming up the "wax") to remove the hairy areas of my legs weekly. The wax made of sugar, lemon juice, chamomile, tea tree oil and water, smells nice and it's not painful too :)

DIY spa

Yesterday I painted my nails and today I pampered myself with a goat's milk salt body scrub and face mask :)

Hairy challenge

Not for nosy Angel but for me :) My solution is sugar waxing instead of shaver (cuts my skin), IPL, etc. It's a quite simple process by heating the jar in a hot water bath, spread the warm sugar mixture onto the hairy area, place the cloth strip and give 2 quick rub down and then quickly remove the strip in the opposite direction of hair growth. I did a quick one for my lower legs when I got home. It's not perfect but I feel more comfortable wearing my skirts tomorrow :)

Banana honey face mask

Last night I mashed up a banana and mixed in honey as mom told me that she got this face mask tip from some TV program. I helped mom to spread the mask on the face before doing mine. It smelled delicious but I'm not sure if our face glowed after that. Mom said she would rather eat the banana in future as it is quite messy. I had fun making and putting it on :)

Dressing up

Other than wedding dinners and when I'm in the mood, Chinese New Year is another occasion that I will bother to dress up and put on some makeup.

Sis took some photos of me doing so over the weekend :)

Putting on my lip gloss in the car and using the back of my handphone to see my reflection.

Lining my eyes

Rummaging through my pouch containing my creams and makeup stuff. I was in that awkward position as I was half blind and using the toilet seat cover to put my stuff.

I enjoy trying organic makeup. I have been using 100% pure lip gloss which smells fruity and recently I got Sante eyeliner to try. I feel more comfortable too using make-up with no/minimal chemicals, since I have been using organic/natural skin and hair care products for the past few years.

Itchy, itchy

That's how the skin on my face and neck had been feeling for the past week. I'm not sure what I have applied on my face to get rashes/hives/flares, as I like to try new stuff on my face. I thought I could afford to do so as so far my skin could take organic, natural products to other kinds (non-natural) of treatments for anti-ageing, etc. I guess I was wrong.

I visited the GP who gave me anti-itchy pills and some aqueous cream to soothe my skin. My friend also gave me some cream prescribed by her dermatologists for her eczema. Perhaps the pills over time help plus the powers of my friend's cream - my skin is almost back to normal. This morning, I can use 2 of the organic sunblock and light moisturiser with no itchy rash.

I must remember to do a patch test when using new products. It's really terrible to develop a skin allergy and having to face the world. Hee. Luckily, it wasn't that serious and I could cover a bit with my usual organic loose powder.

Simply Peaceable's photo contest

I love Simply Peaceable's natural skin remedies:
  • Bugged Outdoor Balm (I apply every night when feeding the cats to prevent being bitten by mozzies)
  • Botty Balm (it's for baby's nappy rash and it works well for rashes I get during this hot weather and it's great as a body moisturiser too)
  • Calm Balm (a nice smelling solid perfume that is soothing)
  • White Clay Mask (to detox my skin gently)
  • Polishing scrub (as a face and body scrub that smells deliciously like oats)
If you are interested in getting such stuff for yourself, you may wish to visit Simple Peaceable's website to check out the products or even join in the contest if you are inspired :)

DIY Facial Party

A few Saturdays ago, my friends and I decided to chill out at FR's place to do face masks. We had fun showing one another the stuff we have been putting on our faces.

FR treated us to some pies she and hubby got from a bakery from Sunset Way.

After the pies, we cleansed, toned our face before we slathered green and red clay masks on them.

FR also made some concoction of tomato juice and lemon juice to tone our faces after the masks. Our skins felt a bit stinging but I like the sensation.

Nearing the end of our pampering session, we each had a bowl of FR's health tonic of white fungus, wolfberries and dates.

What a nice way to spend our Saturday afternoon :)

Simply Peaceable

A good friend has started an online shop, Simply Peaceable, selling some natural skincare products from Tasmania and interesting toys for kids.

I have bought a Lavender & Leatherwood honey body soap and been using it for the past few weeks. After so used to using Johnson & Johnson shower gel, I had to get used to the squeaky clean feeling from the use of the soap. I have ordered 2 more body soaps from Simply Peaceable - Island flowers & Leatherwood honey and Marigold & leatherwood honey.

In the fridge also sits this White Clay mask. I have used it once and my face felt quite clean after that. I'll try to use it weekly to see the effects and feedback to my friend.

I enjoy trying natural products, so I couldn't resist ordering Calm Balm, Massage oil, Aromatic Nut Body Balm and the face soap. I'll let my friend and you know if they are good :)
