Vote for our photos

S and I took some photos of our pets and Oreo and submitted 5 photos for the AVA's Pet Snap! photo contest. The following 3 photos have been shortlisted:
I love my family, my home and the sunshine

We are a happy family, resting after our walk
He loves us even though we have gotten fatter and wrinkled
If you like any of the above photos, you can visit the gallery and vote for the one you like :)

The 2 photos of Angel and Oreo were not selected, so putting them here for you to "admire" :)
They love me even when I am naughty or moody
I feel happy and relaxed, knowing my human friends are always here for me

Warm up Part 3: Bob and AVA pets

Bob actually tried to bite the AVA cat's tail and use his paw to squash it. I had to rescue the "cat" before it got shredded into pieces!

Warm up Part 2: Angel and AVA pets

The lighting is not very good at night and it will be better to take the photos using my Olympus Pen instead of iPhone. But these photos are meant to be a warm up, to inspire myself and any of you to think of a photo to submit for the AVA Pet Snap! Photo contest :) Angel didn't seem to bothered by the AVA pets and just continued napping and resting.

Warm-up Part 1: AVA Pet Snap! Photo contest

I've picked up the kit for the AVA Photo contest during the AVA roadshow last Sat and last night did the paper craft for the pet dog and cat last night. Aren't they cute? If you are interested in joining the contest, you can pick the kit from the libraries and submit your photos by 5 Dec.

Outing @ AVA's Responsible Pet Ownership Roadshow 2011

We browsed through the exhibits and animal welfare groups' booths @ the roadshow. I like the exhibits in the form of a gift box - so colourful and attractive and filled with messages to encourage people not to get pets on impulse. I was also happy to meet my dear friend, SP there.

What I brought back from the roadshow - Cat Welfare Society's 2012 Calendar, CWS' postcards and magnet and souvenirs from AVA (such as postcards, pocket calendars and EZlink card sticker).

I didn't take any photos of the adorable dogs and cats I saw there. If you are interested, do make a trip down to the roadshow which ends tomorrow.

[Photos were taken using the Olympus Pen since I brought it there :)]

AVA's Responsible Pet Ownership EZlink sticker

I had stuck the sticker onto my EZlink card. Good thing sis noticed the AVA collaterals hanging on the railings of the NEL train or I won't have the lovely sticker on my card.

More cats to sterilise

Some heartless person has dumped their pet kittens and this was one of the kittens who has been approaching us at the park. I'm trying to find slot in early Jan to sterilise her and another female kitten. Her eyes are of different colours and she is slowly warming up to me and would rub herself against my legs and hands. Her sister whom we have bumped into a block near the park is very friendly and affectionate but we didn't see her last night and this morning. Maybe someone has decided to bring her home. We shall see if we can find her tonight.

This other male young cat, Snowball would occasionally visit us at the edge of the park. I think he comes from some other blocks and just came to the park to look for food. He doesn't dare to venture into the park as Fat Cat has chased him a few times. If he comes regularly, I would also try to trap him and send him for sterilisation. He is a friendly cat with short fur coat and a bob tail.

At home, Angel was sleeping soundly at the cabinet near my bed. I'm glad we could give him a home. The community cats are doing fine staying in the park since they are used to outdoor life but for the new cats who are dumped, I think with their long fur and friendly disposition, they are better kept indoor in good home(s). I'll try to find them good homes but what's important now is to get them sterilised.

AVA Responsible Pet Ownership Roadshow this weekend

AVA will be organising their annual Responsible Pet Ownership Roadshow at Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza next weekend, 17-18 Nov 2007. Animal welfare groups such as ACRES, SPCA, Action for Singapore Dogs, House Rabbit Society of Singapore, etc will have their individual booths to sell their merchandise and promote their cause. The theme of the roadshow is "Don't abandon your pets".

Some good reasons for you to visit the Roadshow:

  • get to know about the animal welfare groups in Singapore and see how you can help
  • get nice merchandise (calendars, Tees, notepads, umbrellas, car decal, etc) for yourself, family and friends
  • bring your friends/family there to be educated or do their shopping
  • I'll be helping Cat Welfare Society to man their booth, so you can visit to say hi :)
You can also check out AVA's e-flyer at the bottom of this AVA webpage for more details: http://www.ava.gov.sg/AnimalsPetSector/ResponsiblePetOwnership/index.htm
