I couldn't sleep soundly last night. @ 1.30am, I was thinking about mom's remark and how stressful she has been every night Angel starts to protest 15mins after we put him in Sis' room and let Bob out. I will try to get Bob in calmly even though I feel a bit sad at times that this arrangement isn't making both Bob and Angel happy. When Mom gets frustrated that things don't go smoothly, I can only give her a bit of prep talk which doesn't seem to help. She feels better, expressing her frustration in words but I don't feel good hearing them. I can't tell her to shut up, as it's probably an outlet for her to destress.
Last night, it really got into me that I had to think about it and cry a little about it. Such issues can only be resolved on my own, as right now there is no solution to improve the situation for Angel and Bob. Emotionally and mentally, I must be strong and believe that this is the best we can offer and the 2 cats are still quite happy most of the time. And for mom, I will still give her support which means being home most evenings to manage this arrangement.
I feel alright now after a bit more tearing and giving myself prep talk in my mind :) I told myself I have the choice to adopt mom's approach or continue to be positive. I choose the latter :)

Fat mama with a missing leg :(
Fat Mama was missing for over a week. We didn't see her at the void deck, on top of cars, under them, etc. Initially we thought someone has brought her home as she has such an adorable face. Her black fur sister, Black Mama seemed lost without her as they usually ate together and enjoy each other's company. a feeder saw her on Wed morning with an injured dangling left hind leg. I tried to catch her that night but she ran very fast on 3 legs and went hiding from under one car to another each time I went on my knees and tried to reach out to her. On Thurs night Dad called me when he was with her in the carpark. She did struggle a little when I had to grab her scruff and gently put her into carrier.
The vet did an xray on her on Friday morning and told me her hip bone was fractured and her lower leg had already no feeling due to damaged nerve, so Fat Mama's leg had to be amputated. The vet said her injury could be due to a car accident. We visited Fat Ma yesterday afternoon. She looked alert. While I'm glad to see her wide-eyed and alert, we are sad to see her in this state. The vet assistant said that she had been fed painkiller but not eaten much and suggested that I could handfeed her some food. Although Fat mama seemed a bit grouchy, she allowed us to stroke us. She must be hungry as she tried to lick and eat the wet food from my fingers and palm. It was quite messy with bits of food dropping onto the towel, the Elizabeth collar but at least she was eating. My heart ached when she sometimes wobbled to balance herself to sit up with her remaining hind leg. She can be discharged on Mon and Lingcat will help me to look after her for the next few weeks while I find her a good home. She can't be released back to her old home with her sister. The feeder has offered to adopt her if we can't find any adopters. Now I just want to see her get well and back on her feet.

Missing Bush
Bush has been missing since Thurs evening. Mom last saw him in the drain - he was so scared of the gardener who was in the park, overpruning the bushes that he refused to jump out of the drain when Mom lifted the heavy concrete cover. Mom had no choice but to put some dry cat food in the drain for Bush to eat. When we didn't see him on Thurs evening, we were worried as there was a heavy downpour. Could Bush be swept away by the water in the drain?
We have been hoping to see him rolling and stretching at our feet when we reached the middle part of the park but there has been no sign of him. It can't be the TC getting pest controller to nab the cats as there has been no complaint about the cats in the park and only Bush is missing. I have also called SPCA to report about Bush, in case anyone brings him to SPCA.
We hope for a miracle like the case of Bob who appeared in the park again after missing for a few days.

Abandoned pet cats turn community cats

Poor Pearl has been abandoned by an irresponsible owner. When we walked to a block near the park to feed 3 cats, Pearl would run out to greet us and we would feed her with food. As she is a female, I had to sterilise her urgently. Now she sports a left tipped ear. However we think it's a pity to release her back to the void deck as after taking care of her at home for the past week, we find her friendly and will make a nice companion.

We have to separate Pearl from Angel, so Pearl stays in the balcony and we let her out at times when we can supervise her movement around the house. It also means I have to wake up at 5plus am on weekdays to catch Dad before he leaves the house for work, so that Pearl won't follow Dad out of the house (which she hasn't shown any interest so far) or sneak out of the balcony into the rest of the house. I also will stroke her and give her about 15mins of my attention before I go back to sleep and wake up before 7am again to prepare for work.

As usual, Angel doesn't seem to like another cat at home and would hiss at her and Dad doesn't like the idea of another cat too. I have prepared an ad of her to be posted on Cat Welfare Society's online adoption board to find her a good home.

Another abandoned pet cat, Oreo is an older male cat. He is very talkative and his meows are very loud. At first I thought he was in some kind of pain or calling out for a mate. But his loud meowing still continues after sterilisation, so I suspect he wants human attention since he used to be a home cat. I couldn't keep him at home due to his noisiness, so he was released back to the park. For the past week, I have to sayang him for more than 15mins and let him push his head into my hand and rub his body against me before he would settle down to eating his food and when I try to leave, he would meow loudly. Poor Oreo. I'm thinking of cleaning him up, getting him vaccinated and boarded somewhere after I manage to adopt out Pearl.
I like this photo of Oreo. He looks so adorable and also a bit mad. Hee.

I find it funny that Oreo rests with his 2 legs sticking out sometimes.

Putting Charcoal Monkee up for adoption
We have put Charcoal Monkee at my friend's place. It is a tough decision for me but I have made it. Sis and I are only home in the evenings on weekdays and Mom already has her hands full taking care of the community cats, Angel, the house and us. Charcoal Monkee has also been wailing more loudly for our attention and I'm worried that our neighbour upstairs (who's working in HDB) will not be happy and would complain.
This morning I stayed in the balcony with Monkee, playing with him and spraying water at him when he nipped my hands and legs. We also brought him to the vet for his 1st vaccination. I cried a little on the way home when we left Monkee at my friend's house. My friend said she would be putting Monkee with 2 other kittens of same age, so that they can play together while waiting for nice people to adopt them.
If any of you are interested or know of any friends who can give Charcoal Monkee a good home, please let me know by emailing me at coboypb@care2.com. Thanks. I will also be using Cat Welfare Society's online adoption board to find an adopter for him.

Happiness and heartache
My mom and I feel happy whenever we see our community cats appear to take their food and drink their water. They will relax and explore the park or just rest after feeding.

At mom's request, I took a photo of these purple flowers before the crazy gardener who hates the cats cut them away.

Shadow has not been herself these few days. First she disappeared after a thunderstorm. Then Mom managed to find her hiding in the bushes but she just drank some water and didn't eat any food. The past few nights, she didn't appear. This morning, she came out of her hiding place and only drank and went back hiding again. We really hope she is alright.
