Lunch at Kombi Rocks

I was supposed to bring 2 good friends to have lunch at S' workplace, Kombi Rocks Diner, but fell sick. Today, I managed to go there with another good friend, R. So sweet of R to drive all the way from Choa Chu Kang and pick me up to go to Yio Chu Kang. We ordered the aglio olio with prawns and cheese steak, cooked by Chef S. Both were yummy! I asked for more veggies instead of potato wedges for the cheese steak, since my throat hasn't fully recovered from cough. Before we left the place, we asked S to take a photo of me and R sitting on the vintage barber chairs :)

Friends, lunch and dresses

I am on leave today since I have about 10 day from last year to clear. I met 2 girlfriends for Japanese buffet lunch at Chiso Zanmai at Central Clarke Quay. At around $20 per person, it's quite worth it for the selection (without sashimi) and free flow of drinks. We had a good catch up before R and I went to hunt for a shop at Pickering Street. I bought 2 dresses at $49+ while R got 1 :)

Agy's T-shirt to bag workshop

I joined Agy's workshop held at Bamboo House this afternoon. It was a cosy environment and Agy with her clear instructions and demonstration helped about 13 of us to transform our old T-shirts into useful bags. Erm, mine turns out to be a bit too long :) but I could use it to hold my rolled up clean jacket and office attire in my luggage when I attend the coming few overseas meetings. Hee.

Another nice gathering

The dinner at Soup Restaurant was to celebrate one of the girls' belated birthday. Even though we met for a short period of 2 hours, we managed to catch up on the recent happenings in our life. I'm glad our friendship since secondary school days is still strong :)

Eating, foot massage and shopping

Last year in Sep it was the 1st time I had a holiday with SP and FR in Bangkok. This afternoon, we too for the 1st time took leave to have lunch, accompany one of us for an appointment, shop at Mustafa and have foot massage. We also had our favorite naans with some dishes and masala tea before browsing the vegetable stalls in Little India. It is nice to know that our friendship is still strong after so many years, since we met one another over the common love for hamsters in 1997 :)

Lunch @ Artichoke

It is a hot day but I managed to remain cool from the walk from Bugis Station to Artichoke @ Sculpture Square along Middle Road. While catching up with Lingcat, Imp and Dawn, we shared some yummy dishes.

Dinner @ Hediard

It's a good thing we girls shared the food and dessert as I'm still feeling full. I like the prawn mango salad and the cheese sandwich looking dish. The thyme creme brûlée was nice. The earl grey macaroon was big and rather sweet. The madeleines were complimentary. I enjoyed my rooibos tea (which has a subtle sweetness) and of course the company of my 2 good friends :)

Wild Honey & Antoinette @ Mandarin Gallery

I spent about 2 hours with the 2 girls at 2 cafes at Mandarin Gallery. We had a basket of homemade bread, sautéed mushrooms and spinach pumpkin salad @ Wild Honey. The atmosphere and service are quite nice but we find the food portions a bit small. We hopped over to Antoinette for dessert and we shared marshmallow chocolate meringue. I had Petit rose tea while FR tried their hot chocolate and SP drank one of their black tea.

Dinner and drinks with good friends

Last evening, I met my 3 old friends from secondary school days (2 of whom I travelled to Taipei a week ago) for dinner at Swenson at Holland Village. Surprisingly the restaurant wasn't full house. We had our drinks at Coffee Club and I like my hot chocolate which was quite satisfying.

Christmas cards and gifts

This year i received 3 cards and a few gifts from different friends. I'm very glad that there were no gift exchanges, so that we don't have to crack our brains to get something within a budget. We just get whatever we want for whoever we want. I think the best gift is our friendship :)

Feasting & baking with friends

SP invited FR and I over to her place to bake gingerbread men yesterday afternoon. We had a feast of SP's potato salad and grilled cheese mushrooms and FR's "Frankenstein"'s chicken (Indian style mint chicken). The warm apple juice with spices was lovely too. We made some premix sugar cookies while waiting for the gingerbread dough to harden in the fridge. It was a pity after our efforts, the gingerbread didn't turn out very well but we enjoyed ourselves :)

Walk @ Labrador Park & my big breakfast

This morning, I went for a walk with 3 friends @ Labrador Park. I've been there some years back with Joan and Harry her dog. The park looks more spacious and bigger than in the past. There may not be many flowering plants but some parts of the park are quite scenic.

I had breakfast @ home but I always have space for more food. HM brought us apples, roselle and butter cake and we had that towards the end of the walk.

We headed to Vivocity and ate at Toast Box. Of course, I could resist taking kaya toast and teh c kosong :)
