Ice cream treat

Dad treated us to ice cream after our short walk. Greedy mom and I chose the big waffle cones for our ice cream :)

Good food therapy

Good food satisfies my hunger and also cheers me up. I munched on a steamed chocolate cake from a stall at Ion Food Hall yesterday afternoon and had my dinner of Thunder Rice vermicelli just now.

Buttermilk pancakes

I tried my hands at making pancakes in 2 flavours, chocolate chips and banana. I'm glad they turn out quite nice according to me and S. I'm waiting for my sis and parents to eat them and let me know if they like the pancakes too.

Fern & mangoes

After feeding the community cats, Mom and I noticed a "weed" growing in one of the plant beds and decided to bring the fern home :) We also bought my favorite mini mangoes. I'm not a big fan of the big honey mangoes but I love these mini mangoes that are sweet and slightly sourish. I remember having loads of them during my 1st year studying in the university when I was staying in the hostel and enjoying them alone while studying in my room.

Savoury and sweet day

I had a quick nice lunch of yong tau hu bee hoon with a good friend today. After jogging with S in the evening, we had teh halia and I fed myself and S a few pieces of Garrett's macadamia and almond caramel popcorns. I went home to munch on a few more mouthful of popcorns. I think I have enough of sweet things for the week or so I say. Haha. The rest of the popcorns will be for sis, mom, S, etc. Sweet things are meant to be shared :)

Soya bean curd @ Selegie

On Mon, before dinner at home, we had soya bean curd with soya bean milk. The egg tart wasn't great but somehow went well with the bean curd.

Lotte Pepero almond

One of my favorite snacks when I'm feeling peckish. The biscuit stick is like Pocky, covered with chocolate and almond. I'm drinking water mixed with some concentrated brown rice vinegar which smells funky and tastes sourish.

Nutella cake for breakfast

It's more moist and dense than the one I baked the first time. I'm glad that the others like it :)

有点心酸

If only problems and challenges can be easily resolved like how hunger and cravings can be satisfied with food and desserts. But I guess that's what life is about - having to find my own way sometimes alone and at times with help from family and friends :) I can't ignore what's nagging me or keeps me awake and hope that things will somehow work out. It doesn't work that way most of the time.

Nutella cake

My family likes this cake. It's simple to make and only uses 4 ingredients.
This is the recipe

Lunch & dessert @ Holland Village

After the Haw Par Villa outing, we took a bus down to Buona Vista/Ghim Moh and walked down to Holland Villa. It's really convenient to get around Singapore :)

We had a simple lunch of noodle soup and rojak @ the food centre, followed by decadent waffle with 2 scoops of ice cream @ Daily Scoop @ Chip Bee Gardens!

Cute cartoons on the wall

I chose durian ice cream while my friend chose Guiness Stout. I like the durian one. The stout gave an interesting bitter aftertaste.

The above photo was taken by my friend, while the one below was by me.

Reunion dinner 2011

Like last year, we had our reunion dinner with our aunties, uncle and cousins @ Soup Restaurant. My favorite dish is the Samsui chicken.

Lemongrass - my favorite homemade drink

The ingredients: pandang leaves, lemongrass, ginger, water and rock sugar

I tried to present the drink in an aesthetic manner with the lemongrass :)
But it doesn't really matter when it was just me drinking it.

I love sweet stuff

I seem to be getting a sweet tooth as I grow older.

I love the refreshing sweet sour taste of passion fruits. Mom and I can eat one every day if we can find them at fruit stalls and supermarkets.

I love chocolate too. Sis baked many big choc chip cookies 2 Sundays ago and I've been eating one almost everyday. Sometimes I even eat 2 at night!

Visiting supermarkets

Nowadays I find it unsatisfying to shop for clothes, shoes, etc as I can't find anything I like or fit me. But food is another thing. I enjoy browsing in supermarkets and I can usually leave with some fruits, baking ingredients or organic stuff.

A visit to ThreeSixty at Ion Orchard more than a week ago got me a cheese bagel (tasted alright), organic dark chocolate bar with chilli and organic dark chocolate with blueberries. I have eaten a few pieces of the blueberry choc in between a slice of bread on 2 mornings. An unusual way of eating choc but I get part of my breakfast with some dessert to start the day. I recently tried the chilli choc - it's really spicy, but not to the extent of burning your tongue. Mom doesn't like it and return the rest of the piece for me to savour :)

Yay! Blogger seems to be working alright for me to post this :)

Soursop

Another fruit other than durian that I grow to love in recent years is soursop.

Here was a slice I had recently :)

purple sweet potatoes

Mom made some lovely dessert of sweet potatoes and fungus. I like the colour :)
