I ordered the Miso Cod with potatoes. It's a little bit on the sweet side but yummy. 

I reached Ember Restaurant @ Hotel 1929 @ Keong Saik Road 15mins earlier than 7.45pm - the time I was supposed to meet my friends. The waitress was very friendly and got me the IS magazine before she brought me to the table and a glass of water. 

My friend, Agatha has introduced me to this food stall called Sunflower Vegetarian @ Far East Plaza and I have been eating there almost weekly for the past 2 months. Normally I will have the brown rice with 3 dishes @ $4.50. Today for lunch I decided to try the bee hoon (with 3 dishes) @ $3.50. I had lunch at this same place yesterday too :) The food tastes just like yummy home-cooked food.

An Inconvenient Truth

I watched the movie "An Inconvenient Truth" last night with a friend. Both of us are no strangers to the topic of global warming as we read about it in our work at times. Personally I feel that it's great that someone produced this movie to increase people's awareness on the impacts on global warming on our lives and the future generation. It's even more amazing that Al Gore has taken up the role to be the crusader for Earth by visiting different countries to present the facts and encouraging the audience to do their part to reduce the emission of carbon dioxide and other gases that cause global warming.

There are video clips of Al Gore when he was younger and how he got interested about global warming, how precious he feels life is when his son was recuperating in the hospital and how he wants the earth to remain ingood conditions for his children and future generations. He also emphasized the importance of political will, change in mindset in order for every individual/country/organisation to start reducing their CO2 emissions before it's too late.

It is good for people who know nothing or little about global warming towatch this show. It will be a wake up call. As for those of us who are new to this issue, it is a reminder that armed with the knowledge, we could do our part.

Peanut is the most tame of all the Syrian hamsters. He would warm up to me after a while but he is still not as tame as Pip the dwarf hamster.

As compared to her brothers, Poofy and Peanut, Pebble looks the most beautiful. She has nice features of a syrian hamster. A pity I can't hold her!

Sigh. I still have no luck in taming Pebble. We could only admire her from afar :( I have tried to hold her and she bit my finger real hard. So I now try to get close to her when she tries to climb up the wheel or water bottle and I would use my hands to support her. 

I managed to hold Poofy in my hand. He always looks like he is sweating due to his matted hair. He would try to wriggle away when we attempt to hold him but once we manage to hold him in our hands, he is quite good and can stay in our hands for a short while. 

Poofy is rather skittish and he would freeze or jump whenever we make any noise or go near him. It is quite easy to take photos of him as he really freezes in front of the camera. haha. Poor him. 

I held Pip in my left hand while trying to take a photo of her with the camera in my right. Not easy as I tried to make sure she stayed still. Pip is one of the most tame dwarf hamsters I have known. 

Sometimes Mum is more like a big kid than me. She bought these pineapple jam biscuits from one of the stalls @ the wet market @ Ang Mo Kio Ave 10. She finds them very cute and they remind her of Mickey Mouse. They look more like monkeys to me. Hee. 

Ramblings of a 28 year-old happy single

Last night was one of the rare nights that I went to bed before 11pm. I was so tired and after giving my legs a massage using the Relax massage oil and applying my face cream, I zzzz for 8 hours.

I woke up @ 7am this morning. I had my breakfast and finished off the last of the Tokyo Banana while reading the Straits Times newspapers.

Mum earlier saw the front page of ST's lifestyle section and commented it's a pity that the attractive-looking woman (shown on the front page) has difficulty in finding her Mr Right. Of course, mum had to turn to me and said I have to buck up and do something about my singlehood. Haha. I'm leaving it to fate and at this moment, I feel happy, spending my free time with old and new friends, my family, hamsters, cats, pursuing my interests.

Of course, what irks me at times is I couldn't make up my mind what I really want to do for my livelihood. Sometimes I wonder if I should just continue to doing the work I have been doing since I graduated or there is something out there for me. But I do not regret the path I have chosen as through my work and non-work interests, I have met many good friends and also learnt a lot about the world, human nature and myself.

Recently, a friend mentioned about turning 30 next year and finds that scary. I currently still have 2 more years to go before hitting 30 but I think what's important is we are able to celebrate our birthday every year with happy thoughts that our family, friends (human and animal) are well and happy too.

I find my relationships with my family, friends, acquaintances, colleagues do have an impact on how I feel about myself. They have the power to make me feel good or even sometimes lousy about myself and I try to use them as encouragement or feedback to be mindful of my actions and improve myself. It can also be a test on how strong my value system and self-esteem are. I must thank my parents for nurturing me for part of who I am. The rest of the credit will go to my good friends (they provide praises as positive reinforcement when I am a good girl) and myself. Hee.

It may be a bit early for me to review my life for the past year but I always feel it's good to do some soul searching now and then. Once a friend smsed me out of the blue to ask me how I was. I replied "I'm happy with life". I hope I will continue to be optimistic about life because my behaviour, mood and attitude do affect the people around me and if there is anything I can do for them, it is through our interactions/discussions that we feel life is wonderful and be happy for who we are and what we have or if we aren't very happy, be proactive and do something about it :)

@ International Plaza, there is also a shop selling Perfect Potion products . Last week, FR brought me and JerL there and I bought a hydrating mask, hair and scalp elixir, Jetsetter aromatic spray. Just now on my own, I bought a lavendar room spray (for mum), Relax body lotion (for moi) and Relax massage oil. I'm thinking of giving mum a massage when she complains of aching muscles at night or when she feels stressed. I could also use on myself. The lovely smells from these stuff make me feel happy!

I spent this morning playing tennis with FR, her hubby and friend and swimming @ Bukit Batok Civil Service Club. Although I felt slightly tired, I lugged my tennis racket, gym bag and shoe bas to International Plaza (IP) @ Tanjong Pagar. The reason? To check out a clothes shop that FR pointed out in IP last Sat. I was picking out tops and bottoms from the racks to try. In the end, I bought 3 tops, 2 skirts and a capri pants which cost $230+ altogether. I will check out the shop again within a month, so that I could hit $300 to be their VIP member to enjoy 20% in future. I have been trying to find nice clothes for work and play and haven't been in luck until recently when I found Spellbound in Far East Plaza and now baroccoco in IP :) 

BB also brought back these gifts from Fusako-san. Japanese cookies in lovely package. Thanks, Fusako-San! 

I tried it after dinner today. Nice and I reminded Mum that she should bake her banana cake soon.
