I could only watch him from a distance since he would move to a comfortable distance away from me when I moved nearer or tried to touch him. 

This white unsterilised cat was sitting under a tree near the pavillion where we were feeding the cats. I lured him away to another part of the part and fed him. He didn't allow me to touch him. Mum and I didn't see him last night and this morning. 

Yesterday morning, I went down to the park with Mum and Dad to feed our community cats. In the foreground, on the left was Bush and White Neck was on the right. In front of the mini lamp post is Fat Cat. If you look @ the lamp post carefully, you may notice that it looks pinkish. Someone smashed the lamp cover and Dad was very nice to cut out some pink plastic as cover. Far off is Shrek, a cat from a Malay family living in the nearby block. He likes to roam in the park to eat our cat food and terrorise the cats. We have no choice but to use water to sprinkle on him to make him go home if he disturbs the other cats.

Yay!

Just now, Peanut climbed onto my palm willingly as he wanted to explore the world beyond his plastic box home. Yesterday, he made the first move of sniffing my hands, not running away. He then placed his front paws on my palm, moved away from my hands and then came back again to sniff and walked away and finally climbed onto my palm. Such a happy moment as it feels great that Peanut trusts me enough to let me hold him :)

I'm still trying to work my charm on Poofy and Pebble. Both of them will drop whatever they are doing and hide when our hands approach. But Poofy will tolerate us holding him after we manage to catch him. Pebble will just freak out and run away and I don't want to traumatise her by chasing her around.

The Departed

My friend and I watched The Departed by Martin Scorsese last night. Other than cold wind from the air con in the cinema of Junction 8, I have no other complaints. I had difficulty in the beginning in following at first as the characters peppered their words with many swear words and some of them spoke in thick Irish accent. After a while I got used to it and find The Departed very refreshing and interesting. Perhaps it is because I have not watched the Hong Kong version, Infernal Affairs before. I think Leonardo DiCaprio looks great in this movie – more mature and rugged and Mark Wahlberg is funny by swearing most of the time. Do expect some rather violent scenes too.

The kittens are adorable. Hope they will be alright staying there.

My friend brought me near Adelphi to see a mother cat and her 2 kittens. I had some dry cat food with me and gave them some. The 2 kittens were brave to approach while the mum was more cautious. She waited for a short while before joining them. 

Friendship

I read this article in Straits Time yesterday. A few of her sentences strike a chord in me. This one in particular: "We do not share our deepest secrets with our business associates; we may eat a satisfying burger with an acquaintance but it is with our best friend that we think of sharing with great relish the description of our discovery of something mundane like delicious food." I was telling sis about this article and she asked who my best friend is.

Although some will say my parents and sister don't count, they are kind of like my best friends. Excluding my family, I have a group of close/good friends instead of a particular best friend. I have known 4 of them since Sec 1 for 15 years, two since university days for 9 years, 3 from hamster group list for 7 years. Over the past 6 years through work, I have made some good friends whom we keep in touch through gatherings, lunches, emails and sms. And recently from my volunteer work with Cat Welfare Society, I have met a number of nice people whom I like to keep in touch with.

Friendship is really a wonderful thing. I feel happy when I meet these friends. To catch up, to have a meal together, to do a common activity together. To share our worries and joys. We may be busy with work and other aspects of our life but when we meet a few weeks or a month later, we can connect and continue our sharing and we know if we need any help, we can just call each other.

I went home for dinner with my parents after work today and the dishes they prepared were really delicious. Cabbage with pork and egg soup. Broccoli stir fried with fish cake and prawns. Pan fried Batang fish. Unpolished rice. Every mouthful was happiness to me :) My mum thinks I'm silly. hee. 

I packed pieces of cheesecake to the office for my friends. A few of them like the taste, 2 of them find it jerlak (it means minus marginal utility after a few bites because it's very rich and cheesy). I think the next time I will just do the plain cheese version and put in lemon rind which I forgot this time round.

Messy cheesecake recipe

DK has commented in my earlier post about my cheesecake and requested for the recipe. My friend, Jasmine has asked for it too. I have actually followed the recipe posted on the baker blog. However, I didn't manage to get the bull's eye effect and I ended up pouring the dark chocolate concoction all over the place. Hee.

Forgot to mention the earlier photo was of the cheese cake before it went into the oven. This one is after baking in the oven for about an hours. I need to cool it for another hour before setting it in the fridge for 4 hours! 

I wanted to do a bull's eye effect as described by the recipe but it became lopsided so I decided to make a creative mess. I hope it tastes good like the last time. 

I crushed the digestives cookies, mixed it with butter and sugar to form the base of the cheesecake. The batter of cream cheese, eggs, condensed milk and lemon juice was mixed using the electric mixer. I dished out half of the batter to mix with melted dark chocolate. The next step was to pour them into the baking dish. 

Some people also vandalise by spray painting the ground. Why can't they take care of the park like they do for their house? :( 

It's disturbing that people treat the park like a dumping ground. I can't understand why people can't throw their rubbish in the bin instead of leaving it on the floor. I see red looking at the mess these inconsiderate people have created!
