Mum bought these from one of the stalls @ Bugis Village. Some Japanese biscuits @ $2 each and they look yummy.  

I bought this portable/external 40GB hard disk from one of the shops @ Sim Lim Square @ $139. I didn't bother to compare the prices - just went into one of the shops, asked for the price and remember that my few other friends also got some other brands at a similar price. I tried it just now and now I have a backup of all my photos and documents :) 

From Chinatown to Little India

I was happy with my purchases of tops and toiletries from People's Park. I think in future, I'm going to visit some of the shops there on a monthly basis to get new clothes and replenish my toiletries. Reasonable prices and good service.

We then took the NEL train to Little India as my parents wanted to get some henna hair dye (which is supposed to be gentle for the hair). We went into Tekka Market Food Centre to get goreng pisang. It was still nice and warm when I bit into it.

I had another nice surprise when I stepped out of the food centre. Near the bus stop was this beautiful cat just calmly sitting there.

I couldn't resist taking a photo of it. Then came this group of pretty Japanese/Korean ladies (in their 20s/30s) who were excited about seeing this cat and took photos with the cat. The Singaporeans uncles and guys must be wondering why we girls went ga-ga over the cat. After the ladies finish with their photo shoot with the cat, I stroke the cat before we made our way to Sim Lim Square.

These are not the usual rounded glutinuous balls. Dad who doesn't take durian was so lucky to bite into a durian one and he went "Yucky". Haha.

The beef slice fried bee hoon is good too. 

The fish slice hor fun is quite yummy. 

We had lunch @ this stall in the hawker centre within Chinatown Complex. It seems like this food place will be undergoing renovation in July and the food stalls will be shifting to some makeshift place near Outram MRT station. 

My parents and I reached Chinatown around 2pm. It was a very hot day! 

Dinner @ Tonkichi & the Da Vinci Code movie

Yesterday, Kuro.Shiro.Neko messaged me if I was free to catch the Da Vinci Code movie with her last night as she had a free pair of tickets. Although I have read the book before, I don't really enjoy the book as much as the other people I know but I won't miss out on a free movie and good company.

We had dinner @ Tonkichi @ Shaw House and we had the tonkatsu (premium grain fed pork) bento. I choose loin meat while she had the fillet. @ $21++, it comes with rice, some pickles, fresh cabbage, miso soup, mackerel and slices of watermelon. The breaded pork loin is nice and tender. Kuro.Shiro.Neko raved about the tonkatsu in her blog too. And we had many cups of the buckwheat tea.

The Da Vinci Code movie was more than 2 hours long. It was full house @ Lido 2 cinema and luckily the chairs were not uncomfortable like its other theatres. But I feel that the chair is not as comfortable as the ones in Cineleisure and Golden Village as my back and bum ached a little after sitting through the movie (even though I tried to sit upright instead of slouching).

Back to the movie, I don't find it fantastic. It's good that the movie fleshes out the characters in the book but I don't find it very engaging. Perhaps in the first place, I don't find the book that great. It's interesting but not one of my favorite books. However, the movie does help to clarify some parts of the book that I wasn't clear about.

Joan gave me this book "The kite runner" as my birthday present. I shall read it one of these days :)

Yakitori - we like the mushrooms - nice and sweet. Too bad they don't allow us to order just plates of skewers of mushrooms as the chicken and shishamo (pregnant fish) weren't fantastic.

Prawn and vegetable tempura. Not bad. A pity that they don't have mushroom tempura which we like @ Ikoi Japanese Restaurant @ Hotel Miramar.

My 5 girl friends treated me to dinner @ Hanabi Japanese Restaurant located at Odeon Towers. It's buffet ala carte, so we had a fun time ordering whatever we liked and wanted to try. This is the complimentary appetiser - some salmon sashimi with strawberry, sweet cream and cabbage.

Lilo and Stitch (somewhere behind Lilo) had been hiding under the cupboard most of the time I was there. They came out when their parents start to flash the laser pointer and they and the other cats took turns to chase after the darting red light. 

Weiwei under the chair. He was so charming and warmed up to me after a while and allowed me to stroke him.
