I have been saying these words more often nowadays when I see the kitten or its photos.

Pacifier for kitten

The kitten likes to suckle our palm, finger or even our clothes after drinking milk.

My palm was full of its saliva on Sunday noon :)

It wasn't interested in the tiger soft toy at first. Now it sleeps beside the tiger or even on top of the tiger at times.

Sis' Sunday with the baby

Sis spent her Sunday bonding with the kitten in the afternoon while parents and I went out.

I took the photos of Sis and kitten in the morning. So adorable.

A taste of parenthood

The kitten was sound asleep at 8 plus am yesterday morning while I bleary eyed decided not to sleep anymore. I can kind of relate how my mother used to feel when she was taking care of me and sis when we were babies.

This is a cute shot of the kitten while it was sleeping over the arm of Sis.

The person who dumped this kitten didn't think about the fate of it at all. We wonder whether he/she picked the place at the void deck (where we feed Noisy) deliberately. Now our lives have changed. We have not had cats as pets before. After caring the community cats for the past 2 years, we have contemplated bringing one of them, Fat Cat home but we have not done so as we have 4 hamsters at home and Fat Cat may be used to his outdoor life already.

Now with this kitten, we have to make some adjustments. Dad doesn't seem keen to keep the kitten. Mum feels that we should keep it since we are making so much efforts to take care of it now. Sis is keen. As for myself, my concern is for mum who is already busy taking care of the family, community cats and the hamsters. With a kitten, she may be overwhelmed. She is a housewife while the rest of us are working. I do not want her to get overly stressed. In the meantime, I'll take one step at a time and learn how to take care of the kitten.

By the way, we think it's a he and we are thinking of a suitable name.

Kitten's first night with us

I woke up around 3am and 6am on Sat to check on the kitten and feed it some milk using a dropper.

The kitten slept again after drinking milk.

Poor kitten

Some idiot dumped a newborn kitten (eyes not opened yet) at the void deck of our flat. I was outside with my friend when mum called me about it. She and Dad didn't know what to do. When I reached the void deck around 10pm, I saw the kitten in an uncovered mini styrofoam icebox and it was still breathing. I took it home with me.

Back home, I used some wet wipes to clean the kitten and mum prepared some milk from our powder milk formula. We have no choice but I will go get kitten formula from pet shop tomorrow morning. The kitten has been drinking the milk every hour every time we introduce the dropper to its tongue.

Sis got a box from her office and use her old t-shirt as the bedding. This is the kitten. I have removed the "blanket" to quickly take a photo of it.


Sis is currently holding it close to her heart to keep it warm and to reassure it's being cared for.

Later I'll put it in the box near my bed and I shall try to wake up every few hours to check on it. I hope the kitten will survive under our care.

Sunday morning with the community cats

Last Sun, I had a good time feeding the cats and taking photos of them.

White just lazed under the shelter in the park after eating his breakfast.


White Neck looked quite scary staring at some object but he's a darling most of the time.

He scratched me the night before as I stroked him when he was not in the mood. But I still love him!


Shadow is still quite skittish. Only when there are no strangers around and she feels safe and in the mood, she would allow me to stroke. Mum has her way with Shadow as Shadow seems to like Mum a lot.


When I left the park to look for Fat Cat in the carpark, White Neck was already there. He joined Fat Cat and Malay Cat for another round of food.


I find the look Malay Cat (or Shrek for his big size) gave me funny.

At least he's not afraid of the camera like Fat Cat who froze and walked away.


I had earlier fed Noisy at the void deck of my block before I fed the other cats. Before I went home, I would visit Noisy again as he would want another helping.


That day was one of the rare times he didn't hide under the car immediately. He was just sitting next to the car and staring at me. I walked over to him and he seemed to welcome me joining him.

I gave him a back and head massage before leaving.

Great cooks, great parents

I'm not sure if this is true for all families. But for mine, my parents show their love for me and my sis through the food they prepare. When I'm coming home for dinner, mum would prepare some food thatI like to eat. Actually I like most of what she cooks while sis is the fussy eater :) That's why I like coming home for dinner and taking photos of the dishes because when I see yummy looking food, I feel their love for me and the family. Hee, so mushy :)

Remedies for work frustration

Perhaps it was post Labour day blues or I'm getting jaded with my job. The past few days I was feeling frustrated and stressed over some work issues. My boss seems to appreciate my efforts while our big boss seems to think we should be doing more. This means sometimes when we think we have done our best, our big boss would think it's not enough. It feels a bit confusing at times.

I have been doing this work for almost 7 years. I have questioned whether I should move out of my comfort zone to try something different but I'm still here. Job satisfaction is diminishing, colleagues are generally nice. Maybe I'm just having this 7-year itch. Maybe in 3 years' time, I will still be here to receive my 10 year service award. Haha.

Yesterday, I managed to feel more positive after telling a friend about how I felt. When I was back home, I talked to parents about it over dinner. With good food in my stomach, I felt better too.

Then my heart felt lighter when I was downstairs with mum and the cats. These cats face more challenges (i.e. rainstorm, potential abuser, frightening kids, etc) but they seem carefree and happy in our presence. I always feel at peace when I see them happily eating or resting.

This evening reinforced the positive feelings I got yesterday. Great dinner, parents and cats.

Now 2 of our 4 hamsters are happily running around in the exercise balls. Life is too beautiful for me to feel frustrated and stressed for long :)

MacRitchie Reservoir & Goreng Pisang

I thought with Dad's new toy we should venture to MacRitchie Reservoir. The reservoir didn't look as good as it would have looked in the morning.

I led parents along the boardwalk and mum was a bit scared by the monkeys appearing at parts of the forest. I told mum and dad to just walk normally and not make any sudden movement. The monkeys themselves would break into internal fights. I didn't take out my camera to shoot the monkeys as they might mistake that I was going to give them food.

The father of this family carried his kids up on the tree branch and his wife took photos of them.

When we reached the dirt paths, they were quite muddy and slippery. We had to be careful. When it was nearing 6.30pm, we started to get a bit hungry and decided to head towards Lornie Road.

We had dinner @ Shunfu Mart - simple meal of rice and some dishes. A pity that the stall "Chocolate N Spice" was closed on Labour Day or I could have bought some muffins for my family to enjoy tomorrow.

Mum and I have some cravings for kueh and it suddenly struck me that Longhouse is nearby and we could get some goreng pisang (banana fritter). So Mum and I walked over to Longhouse to get goreng pisang, tapioca and green bean fritters. A nice way to end our dinner.

The photo looks overexposed due to the flash. I took this quickly while we were walking back quickly to meet Dad. Mum was already munching away and I couldn't wait to sink my teeth into them :)

Girls' night out in Bugis

Last night, I hung out with my girlfriends in the Intercontinental Hotel room, sipping a bit of red wine, eating MacDonald's hot fudge sundae and fries while chatting and thinking of meaningful ways to get Psychedelichic's man and his brothers to work hard before able to see the bride on the morning of the wedding day. We also watched a bit of some horror movie "Ghost Ship" showing on the tv and one of the girls liked one of the scenes where the people on the ship were "beautifully" sliced into half at head/torso/waist when the ship's wires/lines snapped due to some planned assassination. I found that scene morbid but I could still watch on.

We managed to have a good night's sleep. I slept in the middle of the big bed with 2 girls while bride-to-be and Raine slept on the extra bed. I had a strange dream of Fion doing some arm wrestling with some life guard at a pool and I had the confidence that Fion would beat the guy. It was funny when Fion asked me if she boxed or kicked me during the night. Haha. She didn't.

This morning after snoozing till 9plus am, we had a hearty breakfast @ TCC @ Bugis Junction. I had some American breakfast fluffy cheesy egg. I cleaned up my plate as I was very hungry while the other 3 girls didn't really finish theirs as they need to watch their diet. I gleefully told them I don't have to as I'm single. Hee :)
