I better hide in here before the enemy comes again.

I sense the enemy is near.

Hey, why are you still poking your head in here?

Shoo! Back off!

The coast seems clear again. Let me sharpen my teeth to get ready for the next attack.

Ouch!

Pip looked so cute that I couldn't resist the temptation to say hello to it.
And this was what I received (warning: the following scenes may be too violent):
Sigh. I failed to win its heart with 3 beansprouts, its favorite food. I had to withstand some pain to get the above shots but Pip bit really hard. I think it is still scared of our hands which are seen as an invasion of its territory. I had to gently shake Pip which had its jaws clamped to my finger. No blood but just some red markings which will disappear soon.
I hope Pip will come to trust us soon and in the meantime, I will test him now and then.

Tomatoes for breakfast

Slushy's friend, Jeanette prepared lovely tomatoes toppings for toasted baguette for Slushy's party. This dish is also know as bruschetta. There was some leftover which we girls brought home and I had them for breakfast with my toasted bread. Yummy.

Before toasting and

after toasting

There are still some more in the fridge for tomorrow's breakfast or lunch with omelette!

Presents from Slushy and Fairy Godmother

Slushy gave me a set of towels with cute pictures of
a mouse (Squeak), rabbit (Thump) and duck (Quack).

The mice reminds me of my hamsters and perhaps a reason that Slushy got them for me :>

Fairy Godmother also got me a lovely gift because I like cats.

My gingerbread man

As I could take my eyes off him, Slushy decided to give him to me :P

Slushy's Christmas Party

Friends and family of Slushy and her buddy gathered @ their place yesterday evening for a Christmas party. Look at all the yummy food before the turkey and baked cheesy macaroni joined them.

I was particularly fascinated by this cute man with a candy cane stick to his chest. Don't you think these gingerbread men looked cute? :P

There was a lovely Christmas tree with cute plush toys like
a mouse , a dog and a reindeer . Slushy has earlier told me that Christmas tree is not a "Christian" thing and is merely a form of decoration. Read more about this in Slushy's blog.

On the wall of the living room is this lovely frame of a photo of Slushy's baby Ainsley (when she was a month old) and her mittens. Ainsley will be a year old on 24 Jan 2006. I carried Nimbus, Slushy's ragdoll like a baby for a short while and he got heavier by the minute. Slushy's mum was commenting why I was carrying Nimbus, instead of Ainsley. However, Nimbus couldn't be let out of the toilet as one of the guests was afraid of cats.

Slushy played some Christmas songs on her flute with Fairy Godmother singing along. This was the first time I hear Slushy perform and I think she's quite good. On the tree, Slushy had also placed cards for friends and guests to collect their gifts below. I had already prepared gifts for Slushy and Fairy Godmother. We were all happy with our presents, catching up over good food and before we knew it, it was 11pm and time was for us to go home.

Back to baking

I haven't baked at home for a long time, it seems. The recent baking was done @ Slushy's place where we made brownies. Slushy's christmas party @ her place this evening gives me good reason to bake! I decided to use this oven thermometer as the temperature control of the oven is not reliable. I could set the temperature at 180 degree celsius and 15mins later, the bottom of my cookies would be charred as the temperature had actually hit more than 200.

Therefore, the oven thermometer played an important role and should have a photo taken :P

Initially, I wanted to bake brownies but switched to choc cranberry cookies since Slushy's sis will be bringing a log cake. I'm happy that the cookies turn out nice. I saved some for my family and the rest will be for the party goers Somehow this picture reminds me of chicken nuggets but I assure you they taste nothing like them :P

Ailurophile

This word was Merriam Webster's Word of the Day yesterday. Cat lover is commonly used. If Slushy didn't forward this infor to me, I wouldn't have heard of the word ailurophile. Below is the explanation of the use and history of ailurophile.

ailurophile \eye-LOOR-uh-fyle\
noun : a cat fancier : a lover of cats

Example sentence: Bill, the office ailurophile, could often be heard talking about his cats, Smokey, Twinkle, and Lucy, as if they were his children.

Did you know?

Although the word "ailurophile" has only been documented in English since the 1920s, ailurophiles have been around for thousands of years. The ancient Egyptians were perhaps history's greatest cat lovers, pampering and adorning felines, honoring them in art, even treating them as gods. But the English word "ailurophile" does not descend from Egyptian; rather, it comes from a combination of the Greek word "ailouros," which means "cat," and the suffix "-phile," meaning "lover." If Egyptian cat-loving sentiments leave you cold and you're more sympathetic to medieval Europeans, who regarded cats as wicked agents of evil, you might prefer the word "ailurophobe" (from "ailouros" plus "-phobe," meaning "fearing or averse to").

Mum commented a few nights ago that the sky with the cottony clouds and moon looked nice. I quickly took a few shots of the sky from the kitchen window, trying to avoid the bamboo stick upstairs and keep the camera still on the window ledge. Only this photo out of the 4 looks the most presentable :> Posted by Picasa

Ruth whom I adopted from SPCA last year in her cheesy house :> Posted by Picasa

This is Pip who has been with us since 27 Nov 2005. Such an adorable face but it will bite me real hard almost to point of break the skin on my fingers. I have been trying to put my hands in every night, hoping that it will one day accept me. Then I can sex it and determine whether it is a he or she. I want to stroke it in my hands like the other 4 dwarf hamster too. Posted by Picasa

Shadow can be quite a loner. She will normally sit by herself after eating and move away if I try to get close to her and sayang her. However, sometimes she will surprise us by wanting to follow us when we are leaving the park. Posted by Picasa

Doesn't Mum look like a glutton here? 2 ice cream cones. hee. Actually, the ice cream in the foreground was mine. We couldn't resist eating the ice cream since we were @ Ikea. Posted by Picasa

Unusual looking cats with slit legs. From Ikea. Posted by Picasa

This really got my attention when I visited Ikea some time back. I took this photo using my handphone camera. I managed to buy the bluetooth USB adaptor and figure out how to transfer the files from my hp to pc. The photos posted today are all from the hp camera. I'm quite amazed that 1.3megapixels is almost as good as my 5 mp camera. Posted by Picasa

I can't live in a castle but I can consider buying this castle-like compartment/drawer from Ikea. Posted by Picasa
